[ Following the projected thought with such sentimental words is an amusing juxtaposition, and it's difficult to say which warms him more. Both are good. He hadn't felt one way or the other about incense before that October in Deerington, but he's definitely touched by the association now, knowing it represents protection and can bring comfort to Tech Boy like that. All things that honestly do K a world of good to hear right now. It really hasn't been an easy time in Trench lately. ]

Being in your imagination might not mean it isn't real. Deerington was a dream, and it was real. Who knows with this place. We should keep our guards up. [ He brushes a kiss to Tech Boy's fingers. ] You're very sweet. I'm okay.

[ When it comes to his powers, he clearly isn't, but he doesn't think there's anything that can be done about it and he doesn't want to make Tech Boy feel as helpless as he does. Not when he's already struggling, too. It's better to focus on the few things they do have some control over — like the incense. And what they'd joked about. Sex as a distraction from unpleasantness has served them well before, and probably also will now.

Setting the tub to drain, he stands and steps out of it, pulling on a linen robe and tying it at the waist. Then socks, because the floors of their house were probably not meant for bare feet (one of the many features of their high-rise he misses). He holds a hand back out to Tech Boy and waits for him to take it before he sets about seeing to the incense. The sticks are methodically arranged and lit in what he feels are some of the prime locations in their house, and more besides, because the extra can't hurt right now and they have plenty to spare. The lighting process is occasionally achieved through small blue flames that manifest from K's own fingertips — of the hand not holding Tech Boy's — a minor but helpful trick he's learnt. And luckily, the flames remain within his control this time. Or it may have less to do with luck and more to do with Tech Boy's emotionally steadying presence beside him. ]

It isn't a bad thing to be associated with. [ He glances at Tech Boy with a smile as he says it. ] It does smell good. Even when we kept it burning full time, I never minded it. How are you feeling?
