K accepts Tech Boy's hand and the offered rose with a look of delighted surprise. The red ribbon is the perfect touch, and the significance of that detail isn't lost on him. As if he could ever forget, especially today. Even if the impulses brought on by their own red thread had had them rushing into certain things he would've normally preferred taking his time with, it was a vital catalyst for their relationship, and he doesn't regret it.
"I don't have your imagination, but I try. Happy anniversary," he offers in turn, leaning in and brushing a gentle kiss to Tech Boy's lips. He's still smiling when he leans back, radiating a sort of quiet joy as he continues taking Tech Boy in.
"And to think a year ago you almost turned me away because you were busy. Didn't want to be interrupted." Just a little affectionate teasing for the occasion. He'd had the impression it took effort on Tech Boy's part to be patient with him back then. But he chose to make that effort, and that's what matters. They chose each other.
"What a romantic you've become," he says as he squeezes Tech Boy's hand, more serious than teasing now. "Thank you for this." For the rose, and for creating such a special place for them to celebrate in. For treating their anniversary as something important, worthy of being celebrated. It's difficult finding the words for these emotions, but K does his best to convey what he's feeling through their connection, wanting Tech Boy to understand what all of this means to him. And, more than anything else, what Tech Boy himself means to him.
"A year ago, I didn't know how precious your interruptions would be to me. One of my favorite parts of the day." Tech Boy tilts his head slightly with the slight curl of a smirk on his lips. Then he huffs softly. "More like the work keeps trying to interrupt our time together. Not going to let it."
Patience is one of many lessons he learned from K. Actually caring about someone enough to slow down in order to understand, appreciate, and accommodate another person's needs, wants, and experiences. They're still learning from each other--the god and the replicant with so much in common yet still so much undiscovered--and they'll have all the time in the world. A year is nothing, barely even the beginning. And with the technology god's newly stable upgrade, Tech Boy is as good as reborn. Restarting the clock, turning over the hourglass, and all that flowery idiom crap. Yes, they have a lot to look forward to, and quite a long time to do it in.
He squeezes K's hand in return, absorbing K's emotions and sentiments and returning them in kind. It strikes Tech Boy as strange to think how much more he smiles these days, but he's doing it again. But only for one person. His person. The only person who matters in this dream world and the next.
"What a romantic you've turned me into. Would never have known I had it in me, but you bring out the best. And lucky you, it's all yours." He goes up on his toes briefly to look K directly in the eye. With a quick grin, he winks with a (possibly redundant) "As am I." before landing back on his heels.
This year milestone deserves to be celebrated with as much pomp as the god can give it. And it matters most of all because he knows it's important to K. They promised to make their own traditions. To make their own memories. This anniversary day is something just for the two of them. And, potentially, it will become something more than the day K first knocked on the god's door.
The anticipation raises another rush of heat to Tech Boy's face. He bites his lip briefly then leans back in to steal another kiss, soft yet full of emotion. Feeling the rise of another kind of heat, Tech Boy breaks the kiss reluctantly, then rests his free hand on K's chest.
"What would be the most romantic thing to do next?" He lifts an eyebrow, indicating that it's a sincere question. "The possibilities are practically bursting."
